With phase one of the Very Gold Coast VeryGC campaign a roaring success the Queensland region has jumped into its second phase which includes the launch of a purpose-built website. The website – www.veryGC.biz – has been created to assist individuals researching and planning a convention, meeting or incentive. Gold Coast Tourism CEO Pavan Bhatia says VeryGC.biz is yet another example of the organisation’s renewed strategic focus on the corporate and association traveller, enabling them to experience the range of diverse options, conference venues and incentive experiences available in the region.
“The Gold Coast has long been the destination of choice for families and leisure tourists from around the world,” Mr Bhatia said.
“It is essential to our ongoing growth and development that we also leverage our unique assets to their full potential as a business tourism destination.
“We have invested in the development of the VeryGC.biz website to effectively engage and service our growing interstate and international corporate and association client base, including enquiries beyond Gold Coast time-zone business hours.”
The VeryGC.biz website is said to deliver business-specific content and specially designed features such as example itineraries, merchandise and collateral, an events guide, media releases, destinational editorial, a video library, and a members’ password protected area. With an abundance of superior venue options on offer, including the $A127 million Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre at Broadbeach the Gold Coast now leads the way in terms of resources and infrastructure that caters to the needs of the corporate and association market. As a destination the Gold Coast already has an impressive record of successfully hosting major international and domestic corporate and association events, incentives and conferences.
One recent example is the highly praised Hero Honda Gold Coast product launch which was held in September 2005. The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre hosted 600 international delegates for the event.

Strong branding
The Very Gold Coast VeryGC branding campaign launched in early 2005 is arguably one of the best in Australia in recent times. According to Gold Coast Convention Bureau director of sales, Sandra Passaro, it is now widely recognised and has been embraced by Gold Coast venues and operators.
“From a business tourism perspective the illustrations are being requested for use in registration brochures as well as conference programmes, while the postcards featuring the brand are in high demand for use as teasers in conjunction with incentive programmes. Requests have also been received to use Very Gold Coast VeryGC on client’s collateral and gifts.”
